BBC NEWS | Education | ‘Men cleverer than women’ claim
Proof at last!
Okay, the statistics mean absolutely nothing, especially when qualified by statements like there is evidence that at the same level of IQ, women are able to achieve more than men “possibly because they are more conscientious and better adapted to sustained periods of hard work”. But that doesn’t mean I can’t use the BBC News website to wind people up.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Obviously true in general but not always in the specific. The brightest person I ever worked with was a girl from another audit firm on my ACA training. Never seen anyone quite so fast and yet even slacker than me at working.
“Even slacker than you at working”?
Is that possible?
Women had to try harder to be smarter I found on my degree course.
Two or three were exceptionally smart- far more than I am- but they really had to put the work in; always at the library, always working in the lab etc.
The couple of really smart guys on the course, generally didn’t appear to do any work and yet still pulled in the top grades.
Doesn’t mean they were necessarily “smarter” but that the girls acheived similar results but by different methods.
But what’s clever? You might be able to solve the riddles of the universe, but you don’t know how to work a Video Recorder.
Everyone is good (& excels) at different things. Does being better at Maths, rather than persuading a Company to Invest in yours make you more clever?
All subjective innit?
Still, like you stay- useful to wind people up with.
How can it ever be intelligent to spend a large chunk of time at uni in the library? People who spend their uni lives entirely in the library are the height of dumb IMO. Books or Booze n Scoping Out Betties.. You decide!
