BBC NEWS England London Whale rescuers’ £300 parking bill: “‘It upsets me a bit that we are facing over £300 worth of bills,’ said Mr Knight, who was in charge of the rescue operation.
‘I guess they have got a job to do. However, all of our cars have ‘marine ambulance’ on the side or ‘marine medics’… and I would have hoped they would have given us the benefit of the doubt.’
He added that as a small charity with limited funds, it already faces a steep rescue bill of £5,000.
‘We are hoping the public will show some of the enthusiasm they showed for the rescue by donating to us,’ he added. “

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I expect that the authorities will waver the charge when they find out the truth. David G Hobbs. Cornwall.
Depends on who controls it.
If it’s fairly direct to Ken’s Office, then you’d think it’d get waived (for the publicity if nothing else!).
But if it comes thro some complicated mechanism to the local borough via a number of private companies- then who knows!
But I’m not surprised that the local Warden ignored the word ‘Ambulance’ on the side or ‘Marine Rescue’.
Ignorant, arrogant, vindictive, disillusioned & bitter creatures that many Wardens appear to be.
Still, I hope that 1/ they get the fine waived & 2/ that still get donations to bolster their coffers as a charity anyhow!
Ken Livingstone is a good man. He just wants to stop those lazy people where are CPOW’s, (Coach Potatoes on wheels). Who would you prefer Geoffery the liening archer ?
